JOAN PEASE MP
State Member for Lytton
We are privileged to enjoy the support of the State Member for Lytton, Joan Pease, MP as our Patron. With a real interest in the arts, her encouragement of local creatives has seen tremendous growth in the Wynnum Manly arts scene.
A FACELIFT 35 YEARS IN THE MAKING
In 1984, Savoyards took up residence in an old Scout hall in Ferguson Street, Manly. Then a single building, we rehearsed upstairs and stored what we could of our growing costume collection, later adding props and set pieces. Over the years we've added set building and storage sheds to the property ourselves but the original building was in desperate need of refurbishment to create a suitable workspace for the volunteers who dedicated so much time to set building, prop making and costuming.
Unable to produce theatre in 2020, and thanks to funding by the Lord Mayor's COVID-19 Direct Assistance Program from the Brisbane City council, we were able to renovate, repair, remove asbestos, install security elements and provide our volunteers with a building that allows them to work in a safe, pleasant environment.
